MP Kimaiyo accused of assaulting resident and damaging house door

Police in Keiyo South, Elgeyo-Marakwet County, are investigating an alleged assault and malicious damage to property incident involving area MP Dr Gideon Kimaiyo, also known as Sonko.

According to a police report, Benjamin Kimutai Chesuda, a resident of Kaptarakwa, reported that the MP arrived at his residence at about 6pm on Monday accompanied by a group of about 60 men.

The complainant alleged that the MP confronted him and assaulted him with a large stick, prompting him to run into his house.

He further claimed that the MP followed him and punched the door, breaking a glass pane.

The complainant also alleged that the MP sustained injuries to his hand during the incident.

Officers from Kaptagat Police Station and DCI Keiyo South visited the scene and confirmed the reported damage.

The scene was processed, while the case was taken over by DCI Keiyo South for further investigations.

No arrests had been reported at the time of filing the report.
