President William Ruto on Wednesday formally handed over public service records of Kenya’s first Vice President, Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, and his son, former Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga, to the Odinga family at Kang’o Ka Jaramogi in Bondo, Siaya County.

The handover took place during the official dedication and commissioning of the Raila Amolo Odinga Mausoleum.

The ceremony was attended by members of the Odinga family and other invited dignitaries.

Among the documents handed over are Raila’s Oaths of Office as Cabinet Minister in 2001 and 2003, his Oath of Office as Prime Minister in 2008, and his Oath of Due Execution of the Office of Prime Minister under the 2010 Constitution.

The records form part of Kenya’s public history and document key stages of Raila’s service in government.

The mausoleum complex, which also serves as the resting place of Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, has been listed for protection as part of the country’s national heritage.
