Security officers at Elram Anti Stock Theft Unit (ASTU) camp in Kotulo,Mandera County have repulsed a night attack by suspected militia who attempted to attack the camp.
According to a police report made at Kotulo Police Station early this morning,the incident occurred on Monday night when armed assailants opened fire using AK-47 rifles.
The attackers reportedly engaged the camp from both the eastern and southern flanks in what police believe was a coordinated attack mission.
Officers stationed at the camp responded swiftly, returning fire and forcing the militia to retreat.
No casualties were reported during the exchange.
Security personnel have since heightened vigilance in the area, with a clearance patrol scheduled to be dispatched to the scene to assess the situation and secure the surrounding environment.
