Al-Shabaab militants repulsed in Pre-Dawn Attack on Diiso Camp

Security officers stationed at an operational camp in Diiso, Garissa County on Sunday morning repulsed an attempted militant attack on the camp.

According to an official report from the Quick Response Unit (QRU) Diiso, the incident occurred at about 2:30 a.m. when suspected Al-Shabaab militants launched a probing attack.

The attackers reportedly fired multiple rounds using AK-47 rifles, RPGs, and PKM machine guns.

Officers on duty, who were already on high alert, responded swiftly and engaged the assailants, forcing them to retreat and disappear into an unknown direction.

No casualties or injuries were reported among security personnel during the encounter.

A clearance patrol was scheduled at first light to assess the situation further and secure the surrounding area.
