Scores left homeless after fire razes 65 Homes in Dagoretti

A fire incident yesterday evening left dozens of families homeless after it swept through a residential area in Dagoretti, Nairobi.

According to police at Kabete Police Station,the incident was reported by a resident, Patrick Nyabuto, who raised the alarm after the fire broke out at Joseph Kibali Houses along Thiongo Road.

Police officers from Dagoretti Sub-County responded swiftly to the scene, located about 2.5 kilometers from the station.

Upon arrival, it was established that about 65 mabati houses had been completely gutted by the inferno.

Efforts to contain the fire were led by two fire engines from Nairobi City County, with crucial support from members of the public who helped prevent further spread.

No fatalities were reported in the incident.

However, properties of unknown value were destroyed, leaving significant losses for residents.

The cause of the fire remains unknown, with investigations currently underway.
