Man arrested at Busia Border with Imitation firearm hidden in bag

Police officers in Busia town have arrested a 33 year old man after he was found in possession of an imitation firearm while attempting to cross into Uganda through an unofficial border point.

The suspect, identified as Bevil Munoko Wanjala, was intercepted at around 4:30 p.m. by officers from Busia Police Station who were on routine patrol at Marachi border point.

Police said the suspect was carrying a jungle green bag at the time of his arrest.

Upon conducting a search, officers recovered an imitation firearm described as a plastic pistol

The item had been concealed inside the bag, wrapped in a leso.

He was immediately escorted to Busia Police Station, where he was booked and placed in custody pending further investigations.

Investigations are ongoing to establish the suspect’s intentions and whether he may be linked to any criminal activities.
