Police in Kisumu have intensified their war on illicit alcohol and drugs after they raided and dismantled illegal brewing operations within Kisumu Municipality.
Yesterday operation targeted two chang’aa brewing sites during a routine patrol.
At the first site, officers recovered approximately 400 litres of kangara, fermented raw material used in the production of chang’aa cconcealed in a thicket.
No suspect was found at the scene.

At the second site, the officers uncovered a larger operation, seizing about 1,700 litres of kangara along with three metal drums actively being used for distillation.
However, one suspect managed to escape through a nearby swamp upon spotting the approaching officers.
All the recovered kangara was destroyed on site, and the brewing equipment, including jerricans and distillation apparatus, was dismantled and rendered unusable.
