A suspected murder incident is under investigation in Bungoma County after a 47 year old woman died after allegedly being raped by four men.
According to a police report filed at Kimwanga Police Station today, the incident was reported by East Siboti Assistant Chief Robert Mutenyo, who alerted police about a body at the health facility.
Police officers who visited the scene established that the deceased, identified as Janet Nasimiyu Wafula, had been taken to the dispensary on April 21, 2026, at around 7:30 a.m. while unconscious.
She was reportedly brought in by two unknown individuals and placed under treatment.
Sadly, she succumbed on April 22 at around 9:00 a.m.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that the deceased had previously been working as a casual laborer for a relative in the Mayanja Kibuke area, where she is suspected to have been gang raped by four unidentified men who fled after the incident.
As part of the investigation, the scene was processed and a vaginal swab collected for DNA analysis to aid in identifying the perpetrators.
The body has since been moved to Bungoma County Referral Hospital mortuary, where it awaits a postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
