Nairobi once again lives up to its reputation as the city of athletics as it hosts the 2026 Absa Kip Keino Classic at Nyayo National Stadium.
The prestigious meet, part of the World Athletics Continental Tour Gold, brings together elite track and field athletes from across the globe for a thrilling day of competition. Since its launch on October 3, 2020, and named in honor of Kenyan Olympic legend Kipchoge Keino, the event has grown into one of the most anticipated fixtures on the international athletics calendar.
Fans can expect electrifying action as top athletes take to the track in a series of highly competitive events. Entry to the stadium will be free, with thousands of athletics enthusiasts expected to turn up and create a vibrant atmosphere. The main program is scheduled to run from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. EAT.
All eyes will be on Africa’s fastest man, Ferdinand Omanyala, who is set to headline the event alongside American sprint star Gabby Thomas. Their presence adds star power to an already competitive lineup, promising fast times and unforgettable performances.
Organizers have also raised the stakes with attractive prize money. Winners in each event will take home $5,000, with an additional $3,500 available as a performance bonus, while athletes who break meeting records stand to earn further rewards.
