The Kenyan Premier League resumes this weekend with a blockbuster clash as AFC Leopards host arch-rivals Gor Mahia at Nyayo National Stadium on Sunday.

Gor Mahia head into the highly anticipated encounter at the top of the table with 58 points, while AFC Leopards sit second on 55 points, setting the stage for a fierce battle with title implications. With home advantage, Leopards will be aiming to secure all three points and close the gap at the summit.

Popularly known as the Mashemeji Derby, the fixture is famed for its intense rivalry, electrifying atmosphere, and passionate fan engagement. Supporters are expected to turn out in large numbers as both sides look to deliver a thrilling contest.

Gor Mahia coach Charles Akonnor has expressed confidence in his squad, noting that all players are fit and ready. He will rely on attacking options including Ebenezer Assifuah, Austin Odhiambo and Christopher Ochieng to make an impact.

On the other hand, AFC Leopards coach Fred Ambani also has a fully fit squad ahead of the clash. Leopards have been in solid form, winning four of their last five matches, with a strong defensive record that has seen them concede the fewest goals in the league.

With both teams in top form and unwilling to drop points, Sunday’s derby promises to be a tightly contested affair.
