Police in Suna East,Migori County have intensified their crackdown on illicit brewing and drug related activities.
Yesterday they destroyed a large quantity of illegal brew in a targeted operation when they conducted a raid at Echo area.
During the operation, officers discovered and destroyed about 600 litres of kangara, a substance commonly used in the preparation of chang’aa.
Police say the destruction was carried out in accordance with legal procedures and in the presence of individuals found at the scene.
However, the suspected owner of the illegal brewing den, identified as Jagero, managed to escape after spotting the approaching officers.
Police have confirmed that the operation is ongoing as efforts to apprehend the suspect and dismantle illicit brewing networks in the region continue.
