Police in Kibish,Turkana county are investigating a case of grievous harm after a 19 year old girl was assaulted by her uncle, leading to a miscarriage.
According to policeb at Kokuro Police Station, the incident came to light yesterday when a local resident, Lotagor Ngipeyok, alerted them.
He reported that the victim, identified as Lokamatei Edapal from Maisa Village in Liwan Location, had been brutally attacked on the night of April 26.
The suspect, her uncle Etelej Edapal, is said to have assaulted her after she arranged a marriage to a man identified as Naula Lokouwa, a proposal allegedly pushed by her family.
Following the attack, the victim was reportedly confined by family members for several days, preventing her from seeking medical help or reporting the matter.
Police officers and Police Reservists responded to the scene and confirmed the incident.
The victim was rescued and rushed to Kokuro Health Centre, where she received medical attention.
The suspect fled and remains at large, with police launching a manhunt to bring him to justice.
