A 28 year old woman is receiving treatment at Mandera Referral Hospital following a rape incident reported in BP1 area,Mandera East.
In a police report made at Mandera Police Station yesterday evening,the victim,PPP who is epileptic, stated that she was heading to a toilet at her home when she allegedly fell unconscious.
The woman told police that upon regaining consciousness, she realized she was being dragged into a nearby house by a man well known to her.
She reportedly attempted to resist, but the suspect allegedly overpowered her, removed her clothes and forcefully raped her.
The victim was reportedly rescued by a neighbour before the suspect fled the scene.
She was later escorted to Mandera Police Station by her husband, where the matter was formally reported.
Gender desk officers later accompanied her to Mandera Referral Hospital for treatment and medical examination.
Police said investigations into the incident are ongoing as efforts to trace and arrest the suspect continue.
