Lady Justice Agnes Kalekye Murgor was born on August 15, 1963, to Mr. and Mrs. Mathew Guy Muli.
Her father, the late Mathew Guy Muli, was a distinguished Kenyan jurist who served in several senior legal positions, including Legal Counsel to the East African Community, Judge of the High Court, Judge of the Court of Appeal, and Attorney General of Kenya before retiring to private practice.
He passed away in 2004. She is also the sister of former Principal Secretary for Transport, Nduva Muli.
Justice Murgor attended Alliance Girls High School, where she completed both her “O” and “A” level education.
Inspired by her father and raised in Machakos, she pursued a career in law and joined the University of Buckingham in the United Kingdom.
She graduated with an honours degree in law in 1987 after completing the programme in two years.
Upon returning to Kenya, she undertook her pupillage at the law firm of Hamilton Harrison & Mathews and was admitted to the Roll of Advocates in 1987.

She began her legal career at the same firm as a legal assistant in the Commercial Department.
Seeking broader exposure in commercial law and public service, Justice Murgor later joined the Attorney General’s Chambers as a State Counsel in the Treaties and Agreements Department.
During her tenure, she represented and advised the Government of Kenya on numerous bilateral and multilateral transactions of national significance.
In 1990, she married Philip Kipchirchir Murgor, who was then serving as a State Counsel in the Public Prosecutions Department.
Two years later, the couple resigned from public service and established the law firm Murgor & Murgor Advocates.
Together, they are blessed with three children Cherono, Kibet, and Chemeli.
Justice Murgor’s legal career gained national prominence in 2003 following the appointment of her husband as Kenya’s Director of Public Prosecutions.
She was entrusted with representing the Central Bank of Kenya in the Judicial Commission of Inquiry into the Goldenberg Affair, one of the country’s most significant public inquiries.

Her handling of the assignment earned her widespread recognition within the legal fraternity as one of Kenya’s leading legal minds.
In July 2007, she joined East African Breweries Limited (EABL) as Legal Counsel and Group Company Secretary, overseeing legal affairs for the company and its 10 subsidiary companies operating across six countries in the East African region.
Justice Murgor holds a Master’s degree in International Business Law from the University of London International, a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Buckingham, and a Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law.

She is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya and a member of both the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) and the Institute of Certified Public Secretaries of Kenya (ICPSK).
In December 2012, she was appointed Judge of the Court of Appeal, where she continues to serve with distinction.
Within the Judiciary, she also chairs the Administration of Justice and Performance Management Committee.
Through this role, she has been instrumental in introducing performance management systems aimed at improving efficiency and accountability in courts, registries, and judicial directorates across the country.
