DNK-International Emergency News Desk has been inundated with calls from concerned Safaricom subscribers seeking clarification over a phone number, 0100802041, which they claim has been contacting customers with alarming messages.
According to several callers, individuals using the number allegedly inform subscribers that their registered Safaricom lines are set to be taken over or reassigned to new customers, prompting anxiety among users.
Attempts by DNK-International to reach the number were unsuccessful, as it remained continuously engaged.
Safaricom was not immediately able to verify the claims or confirm whether the number is associated with the company. Customers are advised to exercise caution and avoid sharing personal information, PINs, passwords or one-time verification codes with unsolicited callers until the matter is clarified.
