Margaret Wangari, popularly known as “Wangari wa Banana,” is a renowned Kenyan evangelist and church leader whose ministry has played a major role in shaping Pentecostal Christianity in Kenya and across the wider East African region.
She is the founder and presiding bishop of Anointed Christian Fellowship (ACF), a ministry that began in Banana Hill and has since expanded into a network of churches across the country.
Through decades of evangelism, church planting and spiritual leadership, Bishop Wangari has emerged as one of the most influential female Pentecostal leaders in the region.

Bishop Wangari’s call to ministry as she told DNK-International began while she was still a high school student.
At a young age, she felt a deep conviction that God had chosen her for Christian service.
In response, she dedicated her life to prayer, evangelism and preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Those formative years of spiritual awakening laid the foundation for a ministry that would later touch thousands of lives.
As her ministry grew, Bishop Wangari began conducting evangelistic meetings and crusades throughout Kenya.
The gatherings attracted large crowds as many attendees testified to experiences of healing, deliverance and spiritual renewal.
Reports of miracles, signs and wonders associated with her crusades spread widely, drawing people from different parts of the country in search of prayer, restoration and hope.
In pursuit of deeper theological and spiritual training, Bishop Wangari later attended Bible school in Benin State.
During this period, her ministry gifts gained wider recognition, and she came under the mentorship of the late Bishop Benson Idahosa, one of Africa’s most influential Pentecostal preachers.
His teachings and leadership style greatly influenced her understanding of evangelism, faith and church leadership.
Her ministry was also inspired by Kathryn Kuhlman, whose emphasis on the work of the Holy Spirit left a lasting impact on healing ministries around the world.
Upon returning to Kenya, Bishop Wangari established her ministry base in Banana Hill, Kiambu County, where she founded Anointed Christian Fellowship.

The church soon became a centre for revival, prayer and evangelism.
What started as a local fellowship gradually expanded into a broad network of churches as pastors and ministry leaders were trained and commissioned to plant congregations in various parts of the country.
Today, Bishop Wangari continues to oversee a growing fellowship of churches while serving as a spiritual mentor to many pastors and believers.
Through ACF, she has contributed to leadership development, church growth and the strengthening of prayer and faith within Kenya’s Pentecostal movement.
Despite her influence and the growth of her ministry, Bishop Wangari is widely admired for her humility, compassion and dedication to serving others.
Those who have encountered her often speak of her gentle spirit and her commitment to helping the needy, the broken hearted and those seeking spiritual direction.
Her life and ministry remain a powerful testament to faith, perseverance and devotion to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
