And so Jesus also suffered outside the city gate to make the people holy through his own blood—Hebrews 13:12
In ancient Israel, the remains of sacrificial animals were carried outside the camp, away from the community. By suffering “outside the city gate” on a hill called Calvary, Jesus deliberately took the place of ultimate rejection and shame. He went to the margins of society to meet us in the margins of our own lives.
Our holiness didn’t come cheap. It cost Jesus His life in a place of public disgrace. Yet, through that sacrifice, He completely cleansed us from the inside out, turning our brokenness into something sacred.
If you ever feel like an outcast, misunderstood, or left on the fringes, remember that is exactly where Jesus went to find you.
Today, step out of the need for worldly approval and rest in the identity He bought for you—you are fully chosen, deeply loved, and made holy.
