Students riot at Upperhill School,destroy property

A wave of unrest erupted at Upperhill School after students staged a riot that left several school facilities damaged during the night incident reported at Kibra police station.

The incident was reported by the school principal, Morris Okumu in the wee hours of today.

He informed police that students had become unruly within the school compound.

Police officers from the station responded swiftly and managed to contain the situation upon arrival.

Preliminary findings indicate that the students vandalized several sections of the institution, including classroom windows, classrooms, store rooms, the kitchen, staff room and the school canteen.

The students reportedly demanded to be allowed to go home but failed to provide specific reasons behind the unrest.

In an effort to prevent further destruction and ensure the safety of learners and staff, the school administration agreed to release the students and contacted parents to pick them up.

No injuries were reported during the incident, although property of unknown value was destroyed.
