Students arrested after attempted unrest at Jamhuri high school

By Our Reporter,Nairobi.

A planned student unrest at Jamhuri High School has been thwarted before escalating after school administrators and police intervened swiftly during the incident reported yesterday afternoon.

The school principal, Juma Duncan alerted police at Parklands police station through a phone call after a group of students allegedly attempted to incite unrest within the institution.

Police officers from the station responded to the scene and established that the disturbance had already been detected and contained by the deputy principal before the situation could spiral out of control.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the students were protesting over welfare concerns which they claimed had not been adequately addressed by the school administration.

The officers met the principal alongside members of the teaching staff, who had already identified and isolated eight students suspected of being behind the attempted unrest.

The students were later escorted to the police station pending further investigations and possible disciplinary and legal action.

No injuries or destruction of property were reported during the incident.
