A sombre mood has engulfed Karandini area in Tambua Location, Hamisi, Vihigs county, after a deputy headteacher drowned in River Mjinga.
His drowning was reported at Gambogi Police Station yesterday by the area Assistant Chief.
He informed officers that a man had drowned in the river under unclear circumstances.
Police officers visited the scene and established that the deceased was Micah Injuma, aged 42 and deputy headteacher at Kipchorwa Primary School.
His body was found with no visible physical injuries when it was retrieved from the rver and later transferred to Mbale Hospital Mortuary awaiting postmortem examination to establish the exact cause of death.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing, with officers from Gambogi Police Station handling the matter.
