Isaiah 61:7 -“Instead of your shame, you will receive a double portion, and instead of disgrace, you will rejoice in your inheritance.”
We all carry “shame” from different sources—mistakes we’ve made, words spoken against us, or seasons of deep loss. Shame tells you that your past defines your identity and that you are disqualified from God’s best. But God’s economy doesn’t just “cancel” your debt; it pays back with interest!
The “double portion” was the birthright of the firstborn—a position of favour and security. God is declaring that the very areas where you felt most defeated are the places where He intends to display His greatest restoration. You aren’t just being brought back to “zero”; you are being elevated to a place of lasting joy and “everlasting reward.”
It is time to stop rehearsing your past and start rehearsing God’s promises. Shame can not survive in a heart filled with the truth of your inheritance.
Take the Exchange Challenge: Every time a thought of past disgrace or inadequacy enters your mind today, audibly declare: “I trade my shame for His double honour.”
Write this verse on a sticky note or your phone’s lock screen. Act as someone who is highly favoured because in Christ, that is exactly who you are.
