Farmer Unearths Live Mortar Bomb While Digging Farm

Residents of Bahati area in Silibwet Location, Gathanji, Nyandarua County were left in shock after a farmer unearthed a live mortar bomb while cultivating his farm on Thursday evening.

According to a police report recorded at Ngano Police Station, the incident was reported by David Ngunyi Ndung’u, a resident of the village.

He informed police that he discovered the suspicious metallic object while digging his farm using a forked jembe.

Realizing the object could be dangerous, he immediately alerted police.

A team comprising officers from Ngano Police Station, led by the OCS, detectives from the DCI Gathanji, and other security personnel visited the scene.

Upon assessment, the officers established that the object was a live mortar bomb with its tail section detached, posing a potential danger to residents and anyone handling it.

The scene was secured and processed by investigators before the explosive device was safely secured pending disposal by the Bomb and Hazardous Materials Disposal Unit.
