Police Officer Injured as Escaped Prisoner’s Family Attacks Officers During Arrest Attempt in Kibiko

A police officer was injured on Friday after a group of residents a attacked a police officer attempting to re-arrest an escaped prisoner in Kibiko,Kajiado county.

The incident occurred in the Osupuko area of Keekonyokie Ward.

According to a police report,officers from Kajiado Central Police Station, accompanied by a team from Kibiko Police Station, tracked down a suspect who had escaped from custody at Kajiado Law Courts on January 12 this year.

The officers identified the fugitive Minis Kware Saringe, standing by the roadside and moved in to arrest him.

However, as the officers attempted to apprehend him, the suspect reportedly raised an alarm, attracting a group of Maasai men, including some of his sons.

The group turned on the officers, attacking them and injuring one of the officers during the confrontation.

The injured officer sustained head injuries and was rushed to Ngong Sub-County Hospital, where he was treated and reported to be in stable condition.

Amid the chaos, the suspect and the attackers managed to escape, while two mobile phones belonging to the officers were reportedly lost during the struggle.

Police have launched investigations and a manhunt for the escaped prisoner and his accomplices, who remain at large.
