Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos Ogamba and Government Spokesperson Isaac Mwaura on Saturday joined students, teachers, parents and local leaders at the Thika Comprehensive School for the Visually Impaired during celebrations to mark International Albinism Awareness Day.
The day was also held to celebrate the institution’s 80th anniversary.

It was held in Thika Town and brought together approximately 1,000 participants, including members of the sub county security team and other dignitaries.
Addressing learners from the primary, Junior Secondary School (JSS) and senior secondary sections, CS Ogamba underscored the government’s commitment to ensuring that every child has access to quality basic education regardless of physical challenges or disability.

The celebrations highlighted the importance of inclusion, equal opportunities and awareness of the rights and welfare of persons with albinism, while also commemorating eight decades of service by the Thika Comprehensive School for the Visually Impaired.
