Police Officer Arrested Over Colleague’s Stolen Property in Nairobi CBD

A police officer attached to Buruburu Police Station has been arrested in Nairobi’s Central Business District after he was found in possession of property stolen from a fellow officer.

According to a police incident report, Police Constable Kuriyio Lentapa was arrested on the night of June 28, along Gaberon Road in the CBD by officers from the Central police station.

The officer was found carrying assorted clothes and a bag belonging to Police Constable Edwin Yegon.

The items had reportedly been stolen from the changing room at Central Police Station on June 24, 2026, and the theft had earlier been reported at the station.

Police said the suspect was taken into custody and detained at Central Police Station.

Officers also noted that he appeared to be drunk at the time of his arrest.

Investigators have indicated that he is expected to be charged with the offences of stealing and handling stolen property as investigations continue.
