Senior Police Officer Dies in Head on Crash Along Machakos–Kitui Road

A senior police officer has died following a fatal road traffic accident along the Machakos–Kitui Road in Mwala, Machakos County.

According to a police report, the crash occurred at about 11:00 p.m. on Sunday at King’atwani.

The deceased, identified as Inspector Felistus Kateve Mbaluka, who was the officer in charge of Makutano Police Patrol Base in Mwala was driving a Toyota Vitz from Machakos towards Kitui when she reportedly lost her lane and collided head on with an oncoming Isuzu FRR lorry driven by Robert Njoka.

Police said the impact left Inspector Mbaluka with multiple fractures to both legs, both hands and her neck.

She was rushed to Tumaini Private Hospital in Masii Town but later succumbed to her injuries while receiving treatment.

Her body is expected to be moved to Montezuma Funeral Home pending a post-mortem examination.

The lorry driver survived the crash, while arrangements to tow both damaged vehicles from the scene were underway.
