Likuyani MP Mugabe urges parents to take full responsibility of their children

Likuyani MP Innocent Mugabe has urged parents to take full responsibility of their children to tame the rising cases of unrest in schools.

Mugabe said it was not the role of teachers to instil discipline in students but impart knowledge in them.

He said many parents had abdicated their responsibilities of nurturing virtues in their children.

He said some even incited their children against teachers especially those that were strict.

“Our current generation of parents have failed to take good care of their children and left the entire responsibility to teachers who should be focused on education matters,” said Mugabe.

“Some parents even insult and assault teachers who instil discipline in their children. This is why we are witnessing a new level of indiscipline in our schools leading to unrests,” he added.

The MP made the remarks when he paid a visit to Friends Senior School -Kongoni in his Constituency to assess the damage caused by fire that razed a dormitory of 150 students.

He donated 200 mattresses, promising to add blankets and foodstuff.

Mugabe said, additionally, Likuyani NG-CDF, under his patronage, will allocate funds to support the school’s recovery efforts.

“I will work with well-wishers to mobilize more resources to assist the affected students and help rebuild the destroyed dormitory to restore normalcy and ensure learning resumes,” he added.
