Evil has a way of tempting us to respond in kind. When we are hurt, misunderstood, or treated unfairly, our natural instinct is often to retaliate. Yet Paul gives believers a higher calling: do not let evil conquer your heart. Instead, overcome it by choosing what is good.
This does not mean ignoring injustice or pretending that wrong is right. Rather, it means refusing to allow bitterness, hatred, revenge, or resentment to dictate your response.
Jesus demonstrated this perfectly by showing mercy, forgiving His enemies, and overcoming the power of sin through His sacrificial love. Every act of kindness, forgiveness, truth, and grace weakens the influence of darkness and reflects the victory of Christ.
Through the Holy Spirit, you have the strength to respond in a way that honours God, even when it is difficult.
Today, ask God to help you respond to every challenge with Christ like goodness. Choose forgiveness over revenge, kindness over anger, and love over hatred. As you do, you will become a living testimony that God’s light is greater than the darkness.
