Three workers have lost their lives after suffocating while unblocking a septic tunnel along Lenana Road in Dagoretti, Nairobi.
According to a police incident report filed at Riruta Police Station, the incident was reported at on Monday night by Evans Gitau, a resident of Kabiria Kwa Maji.
The deceased were identified as Gideon Muchira, 40, George Krony, 30, and Moses Githure, 45.
Police said the three were engaged in clearing a blocked septic tunnel when they were overcome by fumes and suffocated.
Members of the public, assisted by an ambulance rescue team, managed to retrieve them from the tunnel and rushed them to Kenyatta National Hospital for emergency treatment.
However, the three later succumbed to their injuries while undergoing treatment.
Police officers from Riruta Police Station visited the scene, while the bodies were moved to Kenyatta Farewell Home, where they are awaiting post-mortem examinations.
