A 26 year old woman was raped by an unknown assailant at knife point while walking to work in Murang’a South on Tuesday morning.
According to police, the incident occurred at about 5:00 a.m. along the Kabati Flyover–Wempa Road.
The victim, identified as MHB an employee of Proto Gas Company and a resident of Methi Village, told investigators that she was heading to work when an unknown man attacked her from behind.
The suspect reportedly grabbed her, dragged her into a nearby thicket while armed with a knife, and sexually assaulted her.
Police said the victim attempted to scream for help, but the attacker threatened to kill her using the knife if she resisted.
Officers from Wempa Police Post visited the scene and documented it.
However, no exhibits were recovered during the initial investigation.
The victim was later taken to Thika Level 5 Hospital, where she underwent medical treatment and a sexual assault forensic examination to assist with investigations.
Police have launched investigations to identify and arrest the suspect, who remains at large.
