Police in Siaya have launched investigations after a suspected drunk reveller fled a nightclub without settling a Sh10,000 bill, leaving behind a loaded pistol.

The incident occurred at Dossier Night Club in Siaya Township during the early hours of Saturday.

According to police, a disagreement broke out between an unidentified customer and the club’s management over the unpaid bill.

Security personnel intervened and allowed the intoxicated man to rest at a corner of the club until he calmed down.

However, the customer later slipped away unnoticed, drove off in a silver Toyota Fielder registration number KDG 365M, and failed to pay the outstanding amount.

The firearm was discovered at about 7.30 a.m. while the club was being cleaned.

A cleaner noticed an object resembling a gun on the floor and alerted the club’s security manager, who immediately informed Siaya Police Station.

Police officers led by the OCS responded to the scene and recovered a Glock pistol together with a magazine loaded with 13 rounds of ammunition.

The weapon was found at the table where the suspect had been resting.

The recovered firearm has been secured in the police armoury pending forensic examination and further investigations by officers from the DCI who are also working to trace the owner of the firearm and the fleeing suspect.
