Parcel Truck Destroyed by Fire on Isiolo–Mandera Road Near Wajir

A Mitsubishi Fuso truck belonging to Tawakal Parcels Company was on Saturday morning destroyed by fire along the Isiolo–Mandera Road near Leheley Police Station in Wajir County.

The incident occurred at about 7.30 a.m. involving motor vehicle registration number KCH 630N, which was transporting parcels from Nairobi to Mandera.

According to police, the driver, Abdirahman Mohamed, noticed smoke billowing from the vehicle’s luggage compartment while on the journey.

He immediately stopped to check and discovered flames emerging from the cargo section.

The driver and his conductor attempted to extinguish the fire but were unable to contain it as the flames rapidly spread, engulfing the entire truck.

Officers from Leheley Police Station responded to the scene and coordinated efforts to control the situation as the Wajir County Fire Department was alerted to help extinguish the blaze.

No injuries were reported in the incident.

The cause of the fire had not been established by the time of filing the report, and investigations are ongoing.
