A 24 year old suspected phone snatcher has been arrested in Nairobi’s Majengo area after he was caught robbing a member of the public during a police patrol.
The suspect, identified as Kelvin Muleshe Asira, also known as “Kasuku” or “Dicky”, was arrested by officers from Shauri Moyo Police Station on Wednesday evening while robbing Patrick Mavia Wekesa of his mobile phone and Sh3,000 in cash.
According to police, the suspect resisted arrest and attracted a large crowd, forcing the officers to call for reinforcement from Shauri Moyo Police Station.
Additional officers responded swiftly, subdued the suspect and escorted him to the station.
A search conducted on the suspect led to the recovery of a toy pistol, an Itel mobile phone valued at Sh1,500 and 152 rolls of cannabis sativa.
The recovered items were seized as exhibits, while the suspect remains in police custody awaiting processing and arraignment.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
