Plans are underway to persuade NEDP leader and former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko to join the United opposition coalition ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Sources within opposition circles claim that DCP Deputy Leader Cleophas Malala met Sonko on Wednesday with instructions from top united opposition leaders to convince Sonko to support the opposition alliance, which is working closely with Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna’s Linda Mwananchi movement.
According to the sources, the opposition is seeking to unite behind a single presidential candidate to challenge President William Ruto in the 2027 General Election, with efforts now focused on bringing influential political figures, including Sonko, into the fold.
