A Rwandan national was killed while two of his compatriots survived after they were attacked by suspected robbers along the Busia–Kisumu Road near Bumala market,Busia County.
The attack occurred at about 3.30am on Sunday at Nyamwanga as the three men were returning from Busia after escorting a relative.
The assailants robbed them of a red Boxer 100 motorcycle, registration number KMGY 830F, valued at approximately Sh150,000.
Police identified the deceased as Charles Rugendahimana, the rider of the motorcycle.
Officers who responded to the scene found his body lying beside the road with deep cuts to the head, face and both hands.
The two survivors, Anthony Charles and Karol Juma both Rwandan nationals, escaped from the attackers despite sustaining injuries.
Anthony suffered bruises on both hands and knees, while Karol sustained a cut on his left hand.
They sought treatment at Ambira Sub-County Hospital in Ugunja, Siaya County, where they were treated and discharged in fair condition.
Detectives from Butula, assisted by officers from Bumala Police Station, processed and documented the scene before the body was moved to Same-Day Classmates Funeral Parlour in Sega for preservation pending a post-mortem examination.
Police have launched investigations into the robbery with violence and murder as detectives pursue the attackers and the stolen motorcycle.
