A man suspected of stealing a goat was killed by an angry mob in Buduluku Village, Mayenje Sub-location, Busia County, on Sunday evening.
According to police, the incident was reported at around 6.10pm by Township Location Chief Oscar Khalende after residents lynched the suspect, believed to be about 35 years old.
He was reportedly found in possession of a slaughtered goat said to have been stolen from a local resident, Peter Murabula.
Officers from Busia Police Station, detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), and crime scene investigators visited the scene, where they found the suspect’s body bearing injuries consistent with mob assault.
The scene was processed and documented before the body was moved to Busia County Referral Hospital Mortuary, where it is awaiting identification and a post-mortem examination.
Police have launched investigations into the incident as they pursue those involved in the mob killing.
