Illegal Rifle and Ammunition Voluntarily Surrendered in Bangale Security Operation

A multi agency security team in Bangale,Tana River County, has received an illegal firearm and ammunition voluntarily surrendered by local elders as part of ongoing efforts to enhance security in the region.

The operation, led by Bangale OCPD Julius Rotich, brought together officers from the National Police Service,DCI, National Government Administration Officers (NGAO), and the Administration Police.

The team received a SHE 68 rifle along with three rounds of ammunition from elders representing Saka Location.

The elders who handed over the weapon were identified as Osman Mansa Nyacho, 62, Abdullahi Kunyo Saka, 48, and Mahat Kolu Saka.

Police said the firearm has been secured at the Madogo Police Station armoury pending ballistic analysis and further examination by forensic experts to establish whether it may have been used in any criminal activities.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations in Bangale has launched further investigations into the matter as security agencies continue to encourage members of the public to voluntarily surrender illegal firearms to promote peace and stability in the region.
