A 21 year old Pwani University student has been found dead at his rented residence in Marembo, Gako Estate, in what police suspect was a suicide.
The deceased, identified as Famon Mwangi Kinyua, a Bachelor of Development Studies student, was found at his residence on Monday morning.
According to preliminary police findings, a note recovered from the house reportedly made reference to relationship-related issues.
No visible injuries were observed on the body.
The Pwani University security team accompanied the Officer Commanding Station (OCS) Kilifi, Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officers and Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) personnel to the scene.
CSI Kilifi North processed the scene before the body was moved to Kilifi County Hospital Mortuary, where it awaits a postmortem examination.
Police said the incident occurred off-campus and there was no immediate indication of any security threat or related concern within the university.
The circumstances surrounding the death remain under investigation, with the autopsy expected to provide further information.
