Boy intercepted in Wajir While en Route to Tahrib after Tiktok meet

Police in Wajir have intercepted a 17 year old boy who was y on his way to Nairobi before travelling abroad in Tahreb through the Tanzania route.

The teenager, identified as MAS was intercepted by officers from the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau (CR&IB) at a luxury bus booking office in Wajir on Wednesday.

Police had received information from their counterparts in Central Nairobi seeking assistance in intercepting the minor following a report made at Rhamu Police Station.

During questioning at the DCI Wajir East offices, the boy told investigators that he had met a person identified as Sadam on TikTok, who introduced him to the tahrib journey and referred him to another person identified as Mohamed, whom they communicated with through WhatsApp.

According to police, Mohamed sent the teenager Sh6,000 on September 1 to facilitate his bus fare to Nairobi’s Eastleigh, where he was expected to meet him.

The boy was reportedly told that the group would later use the Tanzania route through Namanga.

Police said the teenager had a bus ticket bearing the name Abdirahman as well as his birth certificate.

He was placed under protection as a child in need of care and protection, while his parents were informed and travelled to Wajir to collect him.

The information has been shared with DCI Central and DCI Rhamu for further investigations and action.
