Stolen Heifer Recovered as Suspect Arrested in Navakholo

Police in Navakholo,Kakamega county have arrested a 29 year old man and recovered a suspected stolen heifer.

The arrest followed  an early morning interception by local residents in Nderema Location yesterday.

According to Navakholo Police Station, the incident unfolded at around 6:00am when Nderema Location Chief John Wasike received a tip off from a village elder.

The elder reported that members of the public had intercepted a suspect found in possession of a suspected stolen cow.

The suspect was identified as Chrispinus Maduu and a resident of Kamuli Sub location within Sisokhe Location.

He  was found with a white and black heifer valued at approximately Sh 30,000.

The interception occurred within Nderema Location.

Chief Wasike, accompanied by the area assistant chief, rushed to the scene where they recovered the animal and secured the suspect.

He was later escorted to Navakholo Police Station, where he was booked and placed in custody.

Police said the suspect will be arraigned in court on Monday, January 5.

The recovered cow is currently being held at the police post pending identification by the rightful owner and further police action.

Police have  commended the cooperation between residents, village elders, and local administrators, noting that such collaboration plays a critical role in curbing livestock theft in the area.
