A shocking incident unfolded inside a police compound in Kisii county after a police officer was brutally assaulted by a fellow officer.
Police have described it as one that will go through an internal disciplinary process after its investigation is over.
The incident occurred yesterday night at Kigoro Police Station lines.
According to police,the station boss Charles Adari was alerted by unusual noise coming from a neighbouring police residence.
Upon rushing to the scene, the boss, who is a Sergeant, found a Police Constable violently assaulting his boss a Corporal.
The Constable was at the time landing kicks and blows on the corporal within the residential building.
Sergeant Adari intervened promptly and managed to restrain the attacker and prevent further harm to the victim.
By then, the injured corporal had sustained serious injuries to the face and right ribs.
He was bleeding heavily from the mouth and nose.
The Sergeant facilitated his rush to Keumbu Sub County Referral Hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment and is reported to be in stable condition.
Police have since opened an inquiry file to establish the circumstances and motive behind the assault, marking yet another rare but troubling case of violence occurring within police ranks.
