UDA Schedules Repeat Grassroots Polls, Sets State House Meetings as 2027 Race Takes Shape

By Our Reporter,Nairobi.

The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has announced repeat grassroots elections in select polling centres across 42 counties, as the ruling party accelerates internal reorganisation ahead of the 2027 General Election.

According to the party, Phase III elections will be held on March 7, 2026, while Phase II elections are scheduled for March 28, 2026.

At the same time, registration has opened for aspiring candidates seeking various positions under the Polling Center Congress, with applications being conducted through the party’s official website.

In a related development, UDA will convene a Special National Governing Council (NGC) meeting on Monday, January 26, 2026, at 8:00 AM at State House, Nairobi.

The high level meeting will bring together all UDA elected and nominated leaders, including Governors, Deputy Governors, Senators, Members of the National Assembly, Women Representatives, EALA representatives, and Members of County Assemblies.

The meeting will be chaired by the Party Leader President, William Samoei Ruto, and is expected to chart the party’s direction as it strengthens its grassroots structures nationwide.

As part of preparations for the 2027 polls, the UDA National Steering Committee (NSC) has also resolved to establish a UDA aspirants forum, responding to what the party describes as growing interest from Kenyans seeking to vie for elective office on the UDA ticket.

A dedicated aspirants’ registration portal has been opened today, with the inaugural forum meeting set for February 4, 2026, at 8:00 AM, also at State House, Nairobi.

The party said a detailed notice on the forum will be issued in due course.

The announcements were made by UDA Secretary General Senator Hassan Omar Hassan during a press briefing on the party’s grassroots elections and upcoming activities.

He was flanked by National Chairperson Cecily Mbarire, National Assembly Majority leader Kimani Ichung’wah, Senate Majority leader Aaron Cheruiyot, NEB Chairperson, National Treasurer Japhet Nyakundi, Anthony Mwaura, Deputy Vice Chair Kelvin Lunani, and other party directors.

The developments signal intensified internal mobilisation by the ruling party as it seeks to consolidate its base and prepare early for the next general election cycle.
