The International Police Association (IPA) Kenya Chapter held its annual party today,January 31, 2026, at the Police Pavilion in South C, Nairobi, setting the agenda for the year.

Anchored in the spirit of friendship enshrined in the IPA motto Servo Per Amikeco (Service through Friendship), the event brought together leadership from the National Police Service (NPS), partners, and friends from within and beyond Kenya’s borders.

The Inspector General of Police, Mr. Douglas Kanja, who is also the Patron of the IPA Kenya Section, was represented by the Director of Corporate Communications and Spokesperson, Mr. Muchiri Nyaga, AIG.

Also in attendance were representatives from Uganda, United Hands of Hope, Diamond Trust Bank, and the Kenya Human Rights Commission, led by its CEO, Dr.Bernard Mogesa,CBS.

The International Police Association, founded in 1950 in Great Britain, is the largest police organisation in the world.

It boasts a membership of over 420,000 across 66 countries, with its headquarters in Nottingham, England.

The IPA Kenya Section was established on September 12,1961 during the III World Congress in Stuttgart, Germany.

Based at the National Police Service Headquarters in Jogoo House ‘A’, the IPA Kenya Section has been instrumental in capacity building by facilitating local and international courses and training programmes for NPS officers.

The Association has also been a key player in environmental conservation, having undertaken several green initiatives over the past year.

Membership is open to all serving and retired police officers regardless of rank, gender, race, colour, language, or religion.

Delivering remarks on behalf of the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Douglas Kanja, the NPS Director of Corporate Communications, Mr. Muchiri Nyaga, AIG, commended the IPA for its continued commitment to friendship, service, and partnership.

He lauded the Association’s acts of compassion and contribution to society, particularly in environmental conservation, and reaffirmed the Inspector General’s unwavering support, noting that his office remains open to the IPA.

In his address, the President of the IPA Kenya Chapter, Mr. Jared Ojuok, SSP, underscored the importance of friendship and fellowship, quoting renowned author Chinua Achebe on the value of communal gatherings.

He emphasised that strong family and social support systems are central to the IPA ethos, describing the event as a vital platform for building social capital and nurturing genuine relationships.

The National Police Service remains committed to supporting the International Police Association Kenya Chapter and to strengthening collaborative partnerships that advance friendship, professionalism, and service to the community, in line with shared values and mutual goals.
