The Regional Flagship Technical Training Institute (RFTTI) hosted at Kisumu National Polytechnic has marked a major milestone following a high level engagement led by Dr. Esther Muoria, the Principal Secretary in the State Department for Technical, Vocational Education and Training (TVET).

The visit brought together senior government officials, a World Bank delegation, and the National Project Coordinator, Archer Arina.

The team was received by the Chief Principal, Catherine Kelonye, who led institutional engagements showcasing progress made under the RFTTI framework.

Also in attendance were members of the Project Implementation Units (PIUs) from other centres of excellence participating in the Eastern Africa Skills Transformation and Regional Integration Project (EASTRIP).

These included representatives from Kenya Institute of Highways and Building Technology, KenGen, Kenya Coast National Polytechnic, and Meru National Polytechnic, underscoring strong inter-centre collaboration and shared commitment to skills development.

The engagement was further enriched by the presence of the Kisumu County Commissioner and representatives from the local community, who highlighted ongoing cotton farmers’ mobilization efforts and the role of TVET institutions in driving inclusive economic empowerment.

In her remarks, Dr. Muoria commended all centres of excellence for the steady progress achieved so far, singling out Kisumu National Polytechnic for its notable strides in implementing the RFTTI mandate.

She emphasized that the institution’s performance reflects focused leadership, effective partnerships, and alignment with national development priorities.

The Principal Secretary reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting TVET reforms and pledged to engage her colleague, Dr. Paul Kipronoh Ronoh, on the urgent need to address the availability of cotton seeds and fertilizer to support farmers.

She concluded by applauding Kisumu National Polytechnic for the remarkable milestones realized under the RFTTI initiative, noting that the progress achieved demonstrates tangible impact in skills training, industry linkage, and community transformation.
