British man pleads guilty over home care murder

A British man David Walsh, 35,has pleaded guilty to manslaughter over the death of Irene Mbugua (Home care worker).

Irene’s body was discovered at her home in Winson Green, Birmingham.

Walsh had denied the murder but admitted manslaughter at Warwick Crown Court on Tuesday.

He also pleaded guilty to four counts of assaulting an emergency worker.

He is due to be sentenced on March 26 at Birmingham Crown Court.

Police officers discovered Mbugua’s body at an address on Markby Road, Winson Green, on 23 June 2025.

A post-mortem examination concluded that the 46 year-old mother died from serious head and face injuries sustained during the attack.

Investigators confirmed that Mbugua had been providing care to Walsh inside his home at the time she was fatally injured.
