Love triangle: Student killed in hostel stabbing in Chuka

A second year university student has been found dead following a violent stabbing incident at Rovines Hostels in the Ndagani area of Chuka, Tharaka Nithi County

The incident has send shockwaves through the local academic community.

The deceased, Kelvin Sigei, 22, was a second year Bachelor of Science in Engineering student.

Police say the incident occurred inside his hostel room, where his body was discovered with multiple stab injuries to the upper body.

Detectives investigating the case have identified the victim’s girlfriend,also a second year student as the main suspect.

She is currently at large, and a manhunt has been launched to trace her whereabouts.

According to investigators, a handwritten note was recovered at the scene of the crime and is now a key piece of evidence.

Authorities believe the contents of the note may help establish the motive behind the killing, which is suspected to have stemmed from a domestic dispute between the two students.

The body was removed from the hostel and taken to a local mortuary pending a postmortem examination, as homicide detectives continue piecing together the final moments before the fatal attack.

Police have appealed to members of the public with any information that could lead to the arrest of the suspect to report to the nearest police station or contact law enforcement agencies.
