When Revelation Changes Your Posture

By Pastor Vincent Roy Agoya

“When I saw Him, I fell at His feet as though dead.” Revelation 1:17
In Revelation 1:12–18, the apostle John turns to see the voice speaking to him,and he beholds the glorified Christ.

His eyes blaze like fire. His voice roars like many waters. His face shines like the sun in full strength.

This is not the gentle Galilean teacher leaning on John’s shoulder at supper. This is the risen, reigning King.
And John falls.
He does not clap casually. He does not wave politely. He does not analyze the moment. He collapses in awe.
What is our posture when we approach Jesus?
John had walked with Him, eaten with Him, leaned on His chest. Yet revelation produced reverence. The closer we truly see Him, the lower we bow. Casual worship often reveals limited revelation. When Christ becomes familiar without being feared, we lose the weight of His glory.
The fear of the Lord is not dread,it is overwhelming awareness of His holiness.

It humbles pride, silences distractions, and corrects flippancy. We cannot behold the Alpha and the Omega and remain unchanged.

True revelation demands surrender.
Yet notice what happens next: Jesus lays His right hand on John and says, “Do not be afraid.” The One who causes us to fall is also the One who lifts us up.

His holiness humbles us, but His mercy restores us.
So ask yourself:
When you worship, is your heart bowed?
When you pray, are you aware of Whom you address?
May we never worship casually what heaven worships continuously.
