Chinese firm Stecol Corporation has won a Ksh39 billion contract to upgrade Kiambu Road to a four-lane dual carriageway

According to Kenya Urban Road Authority (KURA), the procuring state authority, the upgrading will begin at Pangani interchange on Thika superhighway through Muthaiga, Ridgeways, Windsor, and Runda to Ndumberi shopping centre a few meters past Kiambu town.

The road, which has been experiencing massive traffic gridlock due the exponential growth in population and real estate commercial development, will have new bridges and overpasses at Muthaiga Golf Club, Spur Coffee Garden, Tala Road, Ridgeways, and Kirigiti Junction.

The project is funded through a loan from China EXIM Bank.
