A son of former cabinet minister and politician Simon Nyachae was on Friday arraigned before a Milímani court facing a charge of stealing Sh1.2 million from Sansora group of companies based in Kisii county .
The accused Michael Nyachae appeared before a trial Magistrate Carolyne Nyaguthie Mugo where he pleaded not guilty of the offence levelled against him.
The accused through his team of lawyers led by Assah Nyakundi, told the court that the charge facing the accused are purely family matters.
He told the Court that their client is the one who manages the affairs of the company and that he could have not stolen from himself.
He urged the court to give him lenient bail terms saying he will not abscond trial given that he comes from a distinguished family.
The court consequently ordered the accused to deposit a cash bail of Sh50, 000 with alternative bond of Sh 200,000 to secure his release pending trial.
The court directed the matter be mentioned on September 29, 2026 for pre-trial conference.
