ODM in Turmoil as Rival Factions Hold Parallel Nairobi Conferences

It is all systems go as rival factions allied to the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) hold parallel rallies in Nairobi during the party’s highly anticipated Special Delegates Conference.

One faction, led by Oburu Odinga, is convening its meeting at Jamhuri Park, drawing a significant section of the party’s traditional leadership. Meanwhile, a splinter group aligned to suspended Secretary General Edwin Sifuna is set to host a separate gathering dubbed “The People’s Delegates Conference” at the Ufungamano Conference Centre.

The unprecedented split has laid bare deep-seated divisions within ODM, with political analysts warning that the parallel meetings could mark a moment for the party’s future. Many observers now view the standoff as a potential tipping point, with the outcome likely to redefine the party’s unity, leadership structure, and political direction.

All eyes are now on Nairobi as party members and the country at large wait with bated breath to see what unfolds from the two rival conventions.
